Foundations of Center-Based Family Engagement
n this 30-hour training, participants connect the PAT Approach with the building blocks of engagement to enhance how they are working with families to meet both child and family outcomes. The course includes access to a robust parenting curriculum and an overview of how to navigate it, including highlighting key resources that are essential to addressing common developmental and family-well-being topics that center-based professionals discuss with parents.
Foundational Training & Born to Learn® Curriculum – Prenatal to Six Years
This robust digital parenting curriculum organizes all the materials needed to provide visits to families whose children are prenatal to six years old. Visit plans, professional resources, activity pages, and parent handouts are available in both English and Spanish. A select number of parent-facing materials are also available in nine additional languages. The accompanying 30-hour virtual certification training prepares home visiting professionals to use the Born to Learn® Curriculum in service delivery and to understand their roles within the Parents as Teachers approach. Learners can expect a combination of self-paced online modules and live, online sessions. Trainings are also available in both English and Spanish.
This 40-hour certification training is designed for Parents as Teachers affiliate staff who will implement the Parents as Teachers evidence-based model to support families whose children are prenatal to six years of age. In addition to the Foundational Training content and access to the Born to Learn® Curriculum, this course offers implementation strategies and resources to effectively deliver quality Parents as Teachers services. Learners can expect a combination of self-paced online modules and live, online sessions. Successful completion results in PAT model certification. Training is available in both English and Spanish.
A six-week ongoing group series designed to support families’ understanding of brain and child development through peer discussions and activities. Facilitator’s guides, slides, supply lists, professional resources, and parent handouts equip you to carry out groups that engage caregivers in observing and encouraging their child’s development. Available in English and Spanish.
This downloadable digital guide provides family support professionals with the tools and resources they need to partner with and support the unique parenting goals, challenges, and needs of military families. Special topics include relocation, parenting during deployment, reunification, and trauma and loss.
Supporting Care Providers Through Personal Visits: 2022 Edition
This online training and digital curriculum have been designed to equip professionals who support home-based childcare providers and Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers with resources to impact the quality of their care. Learners work through two modules which take approximately 3 hours to complete.
Partnering With Parents Through Screening And Assessment
This online training digs deep into the “how” of the screening/assessment experience, with a focus on family engagement and other key practices. Learners work through four online modules which take approximately five hours in total to complete.
Families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may need specific information and family support in order to help their children realize their full potential and aid in the family’s functioning.
Goal$ And Assets: Family Conversations About Money
A six-week ongoing group series designed to support family well-being by increasing financial literacy. Facilitator’s guides, slides, supply lists, professional resources, and parent handouts equip you to carry out groups that engage caregivers in identifying their values and making informed decisions. Available in English and Spanish.
Engaged: Building Intentional Partnerships With Families
This Parents as Teachers publication provides a framework for staff and administration within home-visiting, early care and education, and schools to examine and build family engagement initiatives based on 10 foundational values that drive authentic partnership.
This curriculum is designed for family support professionals who work with pregnant and parenting adolescents and their families as they navigate the parallel developmental needs of teens and their young children.
Interactions Across Abilities: Supporting Families of Children with Special Needs
This curriculum examines the special challenges that families face parenting children with or at risk for disabilities. Learn about different types of special conditions and how to offer informational and emotional support to families whose child has a diagnosis.
Recognizing the need for new affiliate supervisors to have an opportunity to dig deeper into the Model Implementation resources and supervisory tools, the Parents as Teachers National Center is offering a two-day institute for new affiliate supervisors that will focus on both structural and process fidelity.
