A child’s first and most influential teachers are their caregivers and families—those who know them best and strive to see them flourish. At Parents as Teachers, we actively engage family members and nurture positive connections so every child can grow to reach their full potential.

Our Approach

The Parents as Teachers approach is to partner, facilitate and reflect. These are parallel processes that occur at every level of our organization, from a Parent Educator visiting a family in their home all the way to the work of the National Center.

Partner: We welcome expectant families and those with children up to five years old to choose Parents as Teachers regardless of their background or circumstances. We strive to serve all because we care about the well-being of every family.
Facilitate: Our services are delivered by Parent Educators who focus on understanding each family’s specific strengths. By building trust, we can better support the whole family.
Reflect: Parents as Teachers engages with families in environments that are most convenient and comfortable for them. Our Parent Educators provide emotional support and access to knowledge and additional resources. They are not there to evaluate or judge.

Our Partners

The Parents as Teachers model is delivered by affiliate organizations and Parent Educators around the world. We partner with these organizations to offer responsive, individualized service that helps every family achieve their goals.
