Tell Me a Story: Amber Shields
Amber Shields is a native of Winston-Salem NC. She received her formal education in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County school system. Upon completing high school, Amber attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte NC. She later transferred to Winston-Salem State University to complete her bachelor’s degree in business administration. Amber pursued multiple career paths before finding her love for youth development and educating young people. Amber was presented with an opportunity to mentor middle school students and loved it. Amber later went on to teach EC pre-k and kindergarten before becoming a family educator. During her time in the classroom, Amber noticed many children were ill-prepared for kindergarten and desired to do more to help. Amber became a family educator at Imprints Cares; a nonprofit organization located in Winston-Salem. In her role as a family educator, Amber can meld together her passion for helping people and watching the lives of families be transformed.
