Susan Gibson, M.S., is the Program Manager for the Office of Child Abuse Prevention with the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). Working directly with state and federally funded Parents as Teachers programs throughout the state of Oklahoma, she offers technical assistance, training, and leadership to 12 affiliates serving 30 counties statewide.
In 2016, because of a budget shortfall, state funding was eliminated. Eight PAT Affiliates were forced to shut their doors, with families paying the ultimate price. Upon the restructuring of the OSDH, and diligent efforts to seek refunding, the PAT affiliates opened their doors again and offered services to families with young children.
With more than 25 years of experience in the field of family support and child development, Gibson has contributed to statewide efforts to reduce child abuse and neglect, secure funding, and strengthen Oklahoma families.
Gibson holds a Master of Science degree in Human Development, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Studies. She has been married to Blake since 1991, has two sons, and one granddaughter. She is a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Action Committee, Home Visitation Leadership Action Committee, Oklahoma Thriving Families Safer Children, and is a Parents as Teachers State Leader.
