Thanks to a $5 million grant from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Missouri-based Enterprise Holdings rental car company, Parents as Teachers National Center (PATNC) will be enabled to provide additional resources to reach and more effectively meet the needs of the thousands of Black, Brown, and Native American families PATNC partners with across all 50 states.
The grant is the largest that PATNC has received from a corporation in its 36-year history. It was bestowed upon the nonprofit as part of the Foundation’s pledge to elevate its focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion through a new five-year, $55 million commitment to organizations that advance social and racial equity in communities around the world.
As part of the initiative’s commitment to young people of color in underserved communities, Enterprise will work with four nationally renowned nonprofit organizations – Parents as Teachers National Center, The Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, United Negro College Fund (UNCF), and Girls Inc. The initiative addresses three social and racial equity gaps in need of urgent attention: early childhood development, youth health and wellness, and career and college preparation.
The grant is part of Enterprise Holdings’ overall pledge of $120 Million to advance social and racial equity and expand the fight against hunger through its new ROAD initiative, which stands for Respect, Opportunity, Achievement, and Diversity forward.
