Four new model goals adopted

Parents as Teachers has expanded its model goals to ensure that it continues to meet the needs of families and communities. Parents as Teachers evidence-based model is backed by nearly 40 years of independent research including many evidence recognitions in the U.S. and internationally.

Allison Kemner, senior vice president and chief research officer at the Parents as Teachers National Center, said the expanded goals, which are backed by evidence that supports them, reflect the work Parents as Teachers’ home visiting professionals are already doing with families. The four original goals are still reflected and relevant to the work, she said.

The three additional goals are:

  1. Improve parent, child, and family health and well-being
  2. Improve family economic well-being
  3. Strengthen community capacity and connectedness

“All of the model goals are backed by research – demonstrating the impact our Parents as Teachers’ home visiting experts are having on families, children, and communities,” said Kemner.
