Dynamic keynote speakers prepare for October Parents as Teachers Conference


Featured speakers at PATCON21

More than 1,000 early childhood educators will be gathering from around the globe to connect, collaborate, and learn Together Towards Tomorrow at the 2021 Parents as Teachers International Conference.

Award-winning speakers, inspiring professional development workshops and fun-filled networking opportunities await them at the conference scheduled for Oct. 11 – 14 in Baltimore, MD.

The annual conference is reconvening in person and attendees will have the flexibility to also connect remotely and watch recorded workshops the week after the conference concludes.

To ensure the safety of everyone attending the conference, Parents as Teachers’ staff is taking every necessary precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We certainly understand that things are changing rapidly but we want to assure everyone attending the In-Person Conference that we are monitoring things daily and will be following all guidelines set by the CDC,” said Constance Gully, Parents as Teachers president and CEO. “We also are making sure that all safety protocols set forth by the City of Baltimore, State of Maryland and the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel will be followed at all times, including proper spacing during workshops and general sessions.”

Three dynamic keynote speakers top the chart of presenters, panelists, and exhibitors preparing for the conference under the theme Together Towards Tomorrow. Keynoting the conference Opening Session will be Joia Adele Crear-Perry, MD, FACOG, founding president of the National Birth Equity Collaborative.

Addressing the audience will be philanthropist/activist Rev. Dr. Starsky Wilson, president, and CEO of the Children’s Defense Fund. Also addressing the audience will be Mid-Session Plenary speaker, pediatrician, health communicator, early educator, social entrepreneur, and award-winning parenting and children’s book author, Laura A. Jana, MD. Capping the conference as Closing Session speaker will be Dana L. Suskind, M.D., co-director of the TMW Center for Early Learning + Public Health, professor of surgery at the University of Chicago, director of the Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program, and founder and director of the Thirty Million Words Initiative.

The company’s new initiative, Enterprise Holdings ROAD Forward, will increase Respect, Opportunity, Achievement, and Diversity (ROAD) for youth and families by addressing three social and racial equity gaps in need of urgent attention: early childhood development, youth health and wellness, and career and college preparation.
