Members of the 119th Congress were sworn into office on Friday, January 3. While we can’t make many predictions about what the new session will bring, we know it’s as important as ever that we continue to build relationships with members and their staff so that they understand the importance of evidence-based home visiting and the positive impact it makes in communities across the country.

In addition to Congress, many state legislatures will be gaveling in in January. A full list of legislative start dates is here. We’ve made it easy for you to reach out to your Members of Congress and to your state officials as you begin to establish relationships or work to sustain those you already have. Go to the PAT Action Center to urge your new legislators to support home visiting. Additionally, our Building a Relationship With Your Elected Officials toolkit is full of resources and templates to help your program think about and prepare for meaningful engagement with decision makers at all levels of government. Finally, don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of our Policy and Advocacy homepage for an interactive map of the items we are following this year. If we’re missing something, let Lisa Clancy know by sending an email to lisa.clancy@parentsasteachers.org. Parents as Teachers National Center looks forward to working with you and all our policy and advocacy partners in 2025!
