Surf’s Up! Parents as Teachers’ 2024 International Conference Heads west to sunny San Diego, California

We are excited to announce that the Parents as Teachers 2024 International Conference is headed west to beautiful San Diego, California where thousands of visitors trek to bask in the sun, enjoy the tropical weather and take in round-the-clock nightlife activities.

The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina will host PATCON24 October 14 – 17, 2024. This year’s theme is “Born to Learn – Power of the Past – Building for the Future.” More than 1,800 early childhood professionals will convene for four days of high-volume professional development.

Abound are exchanges of the latest trends and innovations in home visiting, workshops, plenary panel discussions, spectacular speakers, and a fun-filled Networking Night Out that will have you ready to sail away into the sunset.

Evenings are free, so you can enjoy San Diego. Especially enjoy its revitalized downtown restaurant district, which is just a short ride from the hotel. San Diego has a strong affluent and progressive-minded population. It is known for its Hispanic cuisine, Pacific coastline white sandy beaches, spacious Balboa Park, and the world-renowned San Diego Zoo.

The city’s deep harbor is home to a large active naval fleet, with the USS Midway, an aircraft-carrier-turned-museum, open to the public in the heart of the business district.

With a population of more than 1.3 million residents, the city is the eighth-most populous in the United States and the second-most populous in California after Los Angeles. Located immediately adjacent to the Mexico–United States border, San Diego is known for its mild year-round Mediterranean climate.

Historically home to the Kumeyaay Native Americans, San Diego has been referred to as the Birthplace of California, since it was the first site visited and settled by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States.
