Weaving DEIA Into Our Values
Weaving DEIA Into Our Values
Parents as Teachers’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Council continues to strengthen its organizational effectiveness with a focused approach to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the implementation of the values of Parents as Teachers.
Since the start of 2023, Parents as Teachers added 12 new trainers to its cadre, signaling a continuation of its commitment to diversity; one who is male, seven who speak Spanish, eight persons of color, and four from the western states of Colorado, Alaska, California, and Washington. Parents as Teachers continues to recruit with the intention of mirroring the demographics of its parent educators and the families served.
During the 2023 conference in New Orleans, members of the Parents as Teachers National Center Board of Directors and the organization’s international affiliates engaged in conversations about racial equity, infant and maternal mortality, and their place within the systems of the world. They also interacted as a peer group to explore what diversity each member brings to the board.
