Strengthening Data Management!

A lot has been happening in Penelope, which includes growth in leadership, staffing, and a new direction in Penelope Reporting. Continue reading to learn all about the exciting things happening in PAT Data Management.

A Little History:

Parents as Teachers began its journey with PAT Penelope just over 8 years ago when we launched the data management system in July of 2015. Since that time, our understanding and commitment to quality data entry, secure data management, and robust reporting has only grown … as has our team!

When we rolled out the initial version of Penelope with a handful of reports, and just one staff member to support, we had no idea the places it would go. Now, 8 years later, we have an updated Penelope interface, more powerful reporting options, a whole team for support, and most importantly, affiliates that are using data to drive changes in the lives of families and children.

With this success has come an even stronger dedication to quality Parents as Teachers services through an emphasis on quality data management. Because of this, we are excited to announce the addition of a new director position within the Parents as Teachers National Center.

Announcing:  Director, Programmatic Data Management.

Karen HoerchlerParents as Teachers is pleased to announce the promotion of Karen Hoerchler to the position of Director of Programmatic Data Management.

In addition to supporting the growth and development of the Penelope Data Management System, Karen Hoerchler will work with key stakeholders to support strategic initiatives aimed at increasing Parents as Teachers National Center’s relevance in the data landscape and ensuring Parents as Teachers remains poised as leaders in the arena of data driven practice.

A New Direction in Penelope Reporting!

With this stronger dedication to quality Parents as Teachers services through an emphasis on quality data management, comes a new direction in Penelope Reporting.  We are excited to share that we’ve now added a Power BI Analyst, Beakal Mekonnen, to the team and have begun the process of moving all reports out of Excel and into Power BI.  Power BI is a business analytics solution available through Microsoft that allows affiliates to visualize their data through a HIPAA and FERPA compliant system.

The benefits of this new approach are:

  • Enhanced security, as affiliate access reports through a secure website
  • Timely reporting as affiliates access data as often as they want.
  • More accurate data as affiliates complete error checks on a more frequent basis
  • Increased data driven practice impacting not only affiliates, but the families they serve
