Invitation to Participate in a Study on Home Visitors’ Social Emotional Competencies

Hello,

I am writing to share information and to invite you to contribute to a study that examines how social emotional competencies (SECs) relate to both personal well-being and professional quality of life among early childhood home visitors. This study seeks to enhance our understanding of the factors that support home visitors as they address the complex social and emotional challenges faced when working with families.

For Study 1, we are inviting approximately 352 parent educators and lead parent educators to complete a one-time survey consisting of 97 items. The survey will take approximately 20 to 40 minutes and covers topics including SECs (such as mindfulness, self-compassion, cognitive reappraisal, expressive suppression, perspective taking, and forgiveness), personal well-being (anxiety, depression, and flourishing), and professional quality of life. At the end of the survey, the first 330 participants will have the option to receive a $10.00 gift card as a token of our appreciation for your time. Participants 331 and beyond will be eligible for a raffle. The raffle includes 32 randomly selected participants to receive a $30 gift card, and 15 randomly selected participants will receive a $40 gift card.

At the end of Study 1, you will be invited to be considered for Study 2.

Your participation is completely voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. The survey link includes an informed consent form that provides further details on what your participation entails.

If you are interested in participating, please click the survey link below and complete the survey at your earliest convenience: https://unr.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_01GFcETSaGD7xem

Should you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact Dr. Bridget Walsh via email or 775-784-7007. There are no consequences if you choose not to participate, and we sincerely appreciate your consideration of this request. This protocol #2257848 has been approved by the University of Nevada, Reno’s Institutional Review Board.

Thank you for helping us advance our understanding of social-emotional competencies, well-being, and professional quality of life of parent educators.
