Third-Party Courses in O.L.I.V.E.R.
O.L.I.V.E.R has opened opportunities that were not previously available with the Parents as Teachers portal. One of these opportunities is to offer courses developed by an outside organization. Previously only content developed by Parents as Teachers was presented. This new flexibility allows us to offer courses about related skills but not necessarily Parents as Teachers exclusive skills such as Leadership.
We have been hearing for some time that supervisors and others that provide supervisory activities want more information on how to be a good supervisor, skills such as communicating effectively in a difficult situation; providing feedback; coaching staff; and resolving conflict.
Parents as Teachers is excited to offer three new courses developed by our partner the Kevin Eikenberry Group that cover these topics.
Bud to Boss is perfect for the new supervisor who was once a parent educator and now finds themselves in the situation of being the boss. This course covers many of the skills you will need to develop as a new supervisor.
Frequently, rural programs find themselves in the situation where staff are housed in multiple offices and don’t regularly interact face-to-face. It is like working remotely and can present some issues. Remote Leadership Toolkit is a great course to support supervisors facing this new challenge and Working Successfully from Home is perfect for staff in a single staff office or for those who work remotely, even if it is part time.
We hope you take advantage of these new courses!
Bud to Boss (For Supervisors)
Moving into a position of authority brings new challenges and new responsibilities—some of which might be uncomfortable. And as a first-time supervisor, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, anxious and stressed out about transitioning from co-worker to boss.
This comprehensive 20-module e-learning program helps new leaders as they are experiencing challenges. The Bud to Boss Toolkit provides on-the-spot support to help new leaders succeed.
Remote Leadership Toolkit
Let’s be honest—leadership of others is already hard enough when they are down the hall or on the shop floor. When you add in the challenges of them being remote, it gets harder—and more stressful. This is a comprehensive 18-module training program. The Toolkit is perfect for both team and individual desktop training sessions because they’re concise, convenient and self-paced. Toolkit format is the most convenient training you’ll ever use.
Working Successfully From Home
Working from home is different. Even though work responsibilities do not change when we go from working in an office building to working from home, how work gets done will be different. This set of courses will help anyone working from home, whether it’s full-time or just a day or two a week, know what to prepare for and do to ensure he or she can be productive and stay an integrated part of the team.
