This year marked the 30th anniversary of Parents as Teachers in The First State. To celebrate, the honorable Governor John Carney and Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long issued a proclamation to declare Parents as Teachers Day on May 9, 2018 in Delaware.

The proclamation was presented to several Parents as Teachers coordinators by Kimberly Krzanowski, the Executive Director, Office of Early Learning at the Delaware Early Childhood Council meeting on May 9, 2018.

“We are grateful for this acknowledgement,” said Parents as Teachers of New Castle County Supervisor Whitney Williams.

Later during May, Parents as Teachers program supervisors and parent educators convened for a celebration to honor individuals with 10 years of Parents as Teachers service. Several parent educators who were previously parents in Parents as Teachers spoke to attendees about the positive impact Parents as Teachers made in their lives.
